In-depth study to assess the role and importance of the French language in education
The project
The aim of this mission is to draw up an inventory and diagnosis of the place of the French language in education, higher education and vocational training. It also aims to support the Ministry of Education in drawing up a national plan for the teaching of French, by proposing a draft language policy document detailing objectives and budgeted activities in the various fields. This initiative is part of the historic rapprochement between France and this country, and will contribute to future bilateral collaboration between AFD and this country in the education sector.

The 4-month project was carried out under the responsibility of a project manager and the Cultural Director.
The actions
Cayambe’s experts addressed the following points:
- Inventory and diagnosis
- Support for the Ministry of Education in drawing up a national plan for the teaching of French, incorporating the three target areas
- Proposal of a draft language policy document for the teaching of French, detailing the objectives to be achieved and the budgeted activities to be implemented in the various areas
- Contributed to future bilateral collaboration between AFD and this country in the education sector, by providing input for reflection on the actions to be undertaken
